This is the lot of many motorists before hitting the road to go on vacation: fill up to avoid paying the high price on the motorways. While gasoline and diesel are once again sold at very high prices, they are exploding at motorway service stations. On the occasion of departures for the May 8 and Ascension Bridge, Le Parisien has established the top 10 most expensive stations on the motorways. And the two most expensive are located in the Rhône! The one on the Manissieux area, in Saint-Priest, and its neighbor, on the Saint-Priest area (both owned by BP), sell a liter of SP95-E10 at 2,404 euros. This is 50 to 60 cents more than in large supermarket stations, for example.
In these two Rhône stations, diesel is not much cheaper, at just over 2.32 euros per liter. The British oil company BP monopolizes the first four places in this ranking, and its Anglo-Dutch competitor, Shell, the next six, the latter offering prices ranging from 2,216 to 2,226 euros for the most expensive stations. But, more generally, apart from these stations where the prices are sky-high, refueling on the highway is very expensive for motorists. According to figures noted by BFMTV, the liter of SP95-E10 is priced at 2.06 euros between Paris and Lille, which amounts to filling up 23 liters for 48 euros. It’s 4 euros more than in town.
