COLLAPSE OF THE BANKS OF THE GRAND MORIN: a major project to be undertaken urgently.

During the recent floods of 2024, local residents, particularly those living on rue de Condé, noted the collapse of entire sections of banks, and for some, the repeated collapse of banks, with the appearance of crevasses even further in their property, presaging the continuation of the process if nothing is done.
The water saturation of the banks, the drop then rise in the river level, the non-removal of trees left on site, fallen into the water but with their root system still in the banks, are multiple factors leading to this the ruin of the bank.
This is certainly a major project, and a letter has just been sent to those responsible for managing these issues so that an extremely urgent intervention can be initiated.
At the same time, we suggested to the President of SMAGE to temporarily delegate authority to quickly initiate the removal of threatening trees. It is in fact a project which today exceeds the capacity of SMAGE to intervene, but in Couilly, too many trees are threatening.
We hope for a quick response to this letter and an equally quick decision:
1. to initiate the bank consolidation program (which requires an immediate inventory),
2. to let us manage the removal of trees from the properties concerned to increase intervention capacities tenfold.
This is essential, because in some properties, at the current rate of flooding, these are houses which risk being put at major risk of ruin by the arrival of the river having gradually cut away the banks.
