Did Lyle and Erik Menendez really want to escape from prison?

Erik and Lyle Menendez continue to make headlines. After their story was told in season 2 of Monsterstheir parricide was once again brought to light by Netflix through a documentary recounting their crime. And once again, we quickly understand that Ryan Murphy has not told the facts fairly.

To ride on the success of season 2 of MonstersNetflix released the documentary The Menendez Brothers. For two hours, we understand that Ryan Murphy omitted important facts in his version of the story and above all, that he didn’t tell the truth. For example, Lyle and Erik never had an incestuous relationship in real life and never tried to escape from prison as mentioned Monsters.

As a reminder, in the series, Lyle sends a whole plan to Erik to escape. A missive that his brother hid, but who was found by the police when they searched Erik’s cell. As a result, Lyle was sent to another block so the two could no longer communicate. As highlighted in the documentary The Menendez BrothersErik and Lyle have never attempted to make a Prison Break.

Ryan Murphy changed the content of the letter in Monsters

The Menendez Brothers confirms that Lyle did indeed write a 17 page letter to his brother. And if the police really believed that it was an escape plan, in reality, Lyle simply wrote down on paper everything he felt to his brother.

As Erik explains in the documentary, Lyle, for the first time, admitted that the atrocities suffered by his parents had destroyed him, and that he did not want it to be known. so as not to harm the reputation of their parents.

That’s why he asked Erik to destroy the missivebut the latter refused because it was evidence for their defense. We therefore understand that they did not want to escape from prison and that Erik is far from the person described by Ryan Murphy in season 2 of Monsters.
