Europa League: OM says goodbye to the final, completely dominated by Atalanta Bergamo (3-0)

What a disappointment for the people of Marseille. During this Europa League semi-final return on Thursday evening, Olympique de Marseille did not see the light of day. The Italians, authors of three goals, in the 30th with Ademola Lookman, in the 52nd with Matteo Ruggeri, and finally El Bilal Touré in the 94th, could have scored many more. Pau Lopez, the Marseille goalkeeper, stopped several Bergamo attempts, but the Marseillais never managed to build play, as they were pushed around by the Italians in the midfield. OM therefore logically loses 3-0under the whistles of the 700 Olympian supporters who made the trip to Italy.

The spoiled party in Marseille

There were thousands of supporters, gathered in the Old Port and throughout Marseille to follow this semi-final return. The bars were full, after 2 days of festivities around the arrival of the Olympic flame in Marseille. From Basile Boli, the first torchbearer, to Soprano on the roof of the Vélodrome, the high point of this historic celebration could have been a qualification for the European Cup final, but it was not. Some supporters packed up before the end of regulation time, disgusted with the attitude and level posted by their team.
