Although this version does not bring major changes on the surface, an analysis of the code shows that the company is preparing a new feature called “Car Media“. This system would allow users to more easily manage local media files stored in cars.

Local media management, dubbed “Car Media”, appears to be one of the main features in the works in Android Auto. Concretely, this would allow drivers to read files multimedia already present in their vehicle via a more accessible interface. For example, it will be possible to navigate between local media sources, such as audio files stored directly into the car systemor on a connected device such as a USB stick. This makes it easier to consume content without depending only applications streaming or connexion internet.
In addition to this management of local files, Google continues to work on the integration of AM/FM radios into Android Auto. This future functionality will allow control radio stations away theinterfacewithout the need to use the physical dashboard controls. Although these new features do not yet have an official release date, the icons and error messages integrated into the code suggest that their deployment should not take long.
