Lthe casting of Grease lost one of its members. American actress Susan Buckner died on May 2 in Miami at the age of 72, American media announced on Tuesday. She was known for playing cheerleader Patty Simcox, alongside John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John, as noted The Hollywood Reporter.

According to a press release from her agent, Melissa Berthier, the actress died “peacefully” and “surrounded by her loved ones”. After being crowned Miss Washington in 1971, then trying her luck in the Miss America pageant the following year, Susan Buckner tried her hand at singing and dancing.

With her group, the Golddiggers, she made her debut on the small screen in the television show The Dean Martin Show. The big screen opens up to her with her character Patty Simcox in Grease or the TV series The Cruise has fun.

“She was magical”

The actress will also star alongside Sharon Stone in the horror film The Terror Farm by Wes Craven. This Seattle native also made an impression with her appearances in the series Starsky and Hutch.

“We will forever miss the light she brought into every room,” reacted her daughter, Samantha Mansfield, for the magazine People. “She was magical and I was lucky enough to call her my best friend,” she continued.

Olivia Newton-John died in August 2022dd from breast cancer.
