The Franco-Israeli Hadas Kalderon, who is still awaiting the return of her husband, a hostage from Hamas, regrets that “all the attention” is being focused on the new front opened by Israel in Lebanon.

“Our life is on hold.” Franco-Israeli Hadas Kalderon continues to live in anguish since her husband was taken hostage by Hamas a year ago. On the eve of the commemorations of the anniversary of October 7, she testified for BFMTV.

Ofer Kalderon is one of around a hundred Israelis still held in the Gaza Strip, 33 of whom are considered dead.

“For us, it’s October 7 again. We live it every day, every morning, every evening,” declares this mother on our relocated set to Tel Aviv.

“We don’t know anything” about his state of health, “it’s fog,” she adds.

Children released

His children Erez and Sahar were also hostages of Hamas, before being released during a truce on November 27, 2023.

“My children haven’t seen their father for a year already. They think about him every moment. My daughter saw him in the tunnels (of Hamas, Editor’s note) but we don’t know what happened to him afterwards” , confides Hadas Kalderon.

Released after 52 days of captivity, the two children are “bruised”. “In their minds, they are still in Gaza (…) It’s a trauma,” explains their mother.

Author of a book on the kidnapping of her children, “52 days without them” (Ed. Alisio), Hadas Kalderon regrets that “no one talks about the hostages anymore”. “All the attention is on this new front,” she said, referring to Israel’s war in Lebanon against Hezbollah.

“They are undoubtedly wondering: ‘how is it that we are still here, that our country has not yet freed us?'”, she is indignant, asking to “put pressure on Israel” and all those who can “advance the situation”.
