Luciano Minisini Burke, 18, accused of causing a fire at the Walmart in Vaudreuil-Dorion on Tuesday, February 20, was back before the Court of Quebec this Wednesday, May 8. The brief appearance of the accused, who spoke only in English, took place in front of the latter’s parents.

Remember that the Hudson resident was arrested shortly after starting the fire in the business on Boulevard de la Gare and that he faces two charges: causing damage by fire to goods knowing that individuals were in the business and that of having caused damage by fire.

His lawyer, Mr. Jacklin Turcot, indicated that his client was having a bad time during the commission of the crime and that he had been deemed fit to appear and stand trial. In order to give him time to read the entire report issued by the psychiatrist who evaluated the accused, Mr. Turcot requested a postponement of the file until July 17 for the pro forma investigation. The accused, who remains detained, will therefore be brought back to the Salaberry-de-Valleyfield courthouse on this date.

Nearly three months after the incident, the Walmart branch in Vaudreuil-Dorion is preparing its official reopening for May 16.
