Spanish midfielder Rodri won the 2024 Ballon d'Or on Monday ahead of Vinicius Jr and Jude Bellingham during a ceremony organized in Paris. Among the women, Aitana Bonmati scored a double while Kylian Mbappé won the trophy for top scorer of the season with Harry Kane. All the winners of the 2024 Ballon d'or trophies are now known.
After a hectic day, particularly in Madrid where rumors of Vinicius Jr's non-victory created shocks, the Ballon d'Or ceremony ended with Rodri's victory. Sparkling with Manchester City and winner of the Euro with Spain, the midfielder succeeded Lionel Messi. The Skyblues sentinel lit up the season for his club as well as that of his selection and ended up ahead of Vinicius Jr and Jude Bellingham to win the prestigious individual award.
>> Relive the 2024 Ballon d’or evening
After a complicated season in Paris and with the France team, Kylian Mbappé left the Ballon d'Or podium to find himself sixth. But the new Real Madrid striker, absent this Monday in Paris like the rest of the Madrilenians, did win a trophy. Co-winner of the Gerd Muller Trophy with Harry Kane, the Frenchman finished top scorer for the 2023-2024 campaign with 52 goals.
Among the women, the Golden Ball went to Aitana Bonmati for the second year in a row. Author of a nice double, the Barcelona native is accompanied among the winners of the evening by the phenomenon Lamine Yamal. Unsurprisingly, the Barça winger won the Kopa Trophy awarded to the best player under the age of 21.
