The 30th edition of the Business Discovery Day (JDE), which was held this year all weekend in Wallonia and Brussels, attracted more than 130,000 visitors, which represents a participation record, according to Sudinfo, the organizer of the event.

On the occasion of its 30th anniversary, the initiative extended over two days for the first time, which also explains the record attendance. Participants entered the doors of 105 companies in total, ranging from the smallest structures to the largest industrial groups. “This special edition allowed the public to visit emblematic companies such as McDonald’s, Jost, Lasea, and EVS in Liège, Confiserie Clarembeau in Namur, or the Epicura hospitals and SWDE in Hainaut”lists Katia Fazio, commercial and diversification director of the Sudmedia group, in a press release.

“Certain sites experienced record attendance, such as the Comet group which welcomed more than 1,500 people, or the Cristallerie du Val Saint Lambert which attracted nearly 1,300 visitors”she argues. The JDE has been organized every autumn since 1994. The event aims to show the general public the diversity and importance of companies which contribute to the economic development of Wallonia and the Brussels Region.

In Flanders, the Business Discovery Day attracted some 410,000 visitors this Sunday to around 200 participating companies, according to the employers’ organization Voka, which initiated the event. In the north of the country, this was the 34th edition of the event.
