Nathalie, 31, received an independent probation sentence of two years before the Liège criminal court after threatening a social worker from the CPAS, the owner of her studio and injuring police officers during her forced eviction .

“A knife in the eye”

On November 30, 2022, the owner of Nathalie’s home filed a complaint with the police. The day before, the latter sent him a most threatening message. It was planned to carry out an inventory of the studio she occupied in Liège. “If someone knocks tomorrow, they’ll get a knife in the eye and fly out the window.”, Nathalie had indicated… Heard by the police, the suspect admitted the facts while specifying that the remarks did not reveal a real desire to act but were intended to “to have peace”… When she was eventually forcibly evicted from the home, things didn’t go any smoother.

The following March 21, three police officers arrived on site with a bailiff. Nathalie quickly became aggressive both verbally and physically. She directly informed them that she did not intend to follow up favorably with her expulsion. She kicked one of the inspectors in the shin. One of the colleagues then decided to control her. But she didn’t hear it that way. She struggled with her arms and legs. She scratched a police officer. The inspectors eventually managed to place handcuffs on him. This element did not relax the atmosphere any more. She continued to struggle and kicked the three police officers. One of the police officers was injured in the forehead.

Insults and death threats

At the same time, she did not hesitate to send insulting emails and death threats to the CPAS in Liège! It particularly targeted a social worker responsible for resolving her case with a view to obtaining social assistance. Questioned about her behavior, the thirty-year-old confessed to the facts and tried to justify them by the fact that she had acted in this way under “the blow of irritation” and not knowing what she should do about “the attitude of the CPAS.” The court took into account the fact that she had no criminal record.
