Eurovision 2024: what are France’s chances this Saturday? Here are the bookmakers’ predictions

From May 7 to 11, 2024, 37 countries will participate in the 68th edition of Eurovision in Malmö, Sweden. Discover the five favorites of the bookmakers.

After the victory of the Swedish Loreen in 2023, the 68th edition of the competition takes place in Malmö, Sweden, from Tuesday May 7 to Saturday May 11, 2024.

The candidates’ songs are already available on the Eurovision website, on their YouTube channel and streaming platforms. On the French side, it will be the singer Slimane and his title My love who will represent France in the final of the competition on May 11, and who succeeds La Zarra and her song Obviously. Last year, the singer came in 16th position.

Slimane’s title evokes a romantic breakup that is difficult to accept. Will it allow France to win the competition 47 years after Marie Myriam’s last coronation? For the moment, the singer is ranked 6th in the bookmakers’ rankings. Here are the main favorites.

Croatia well ahead

According to the bookmakers, Croatia is the big favorite for this Eurovision 2024. With a 31% chance of victory, it could be titled for the very first time. In second position in the predictions is Switzerland, already winner twice, in 1956 and 1988. Italy completes the bookmakers’ podium with a 12% chance of victory, followed by Ukraine, winner in 2022, and the Ireland, country with the most victories (7).

France outside the top 5

Despite its 5 victories at Eurovision, France should not a priori win the title which has eluded it since 1977. Indeed, still according to the bookmakers, France would arrive in 7th position with only a 4% chance of victory.
