Keith Richards covers the classic “ I’m Waiting for the Man » from the Velvet Underground for an upcoming tribute album to the music of Lou Reed.
The day before Lou Reed’s 82nd birthday, Richards also shared a video of the recording of his performance, which features his signature Rolling Stones guitar playing on the Velvet Underground and Nico track.

Rufus Wainwright, who performed “ Perfect Day » of Reed, said in a statement: “ Lou Reed has been gone for many years. He is one of the few people who I miss as much today as when he left. There are so many times I wonder what he would say or think. His aura always brought something truly unique to the room. Thank goodness he left us his music and recordings.
