At 88 years old, this member of the royal family works more than Prince William!

It’s a habit for her. Princess Anne tops the rankings for the number of official engagements carried out by members of the royal family at the start of 2024. The sister of King Charles III worked sixty-eight days – and completed one hundred and seventy-two commitments – from January to the end of April, as indicated by the Daily Mail this Monday, May 6, an increase in its workload of 2% compared to the same period last year. In this list, it is easy to see what the royal family is currently going through, since Prince William has few working days.

Indeed, the eldest child of King Charles III worked seventeen days and is preceded by the Duke of Kent, cousin of Queen Elizabeth II and aged 88. The latter, with twenty-eight engagements, increased his public appearances compared to last year, as did the Duke of Gloucester, 79, who worked nineteen days the first four months of the year. Prince William made twenty-eight engagements compared to fifty at the same time last year.

A royal family upset this year

Prince Harry’s brother reduced his work hours to care for his wife and three children, first while Kate Middleton was recovering from major abdominal surgery and then since she began treatment for a form of cancer whose origin has not been revealed. Due to health problems, the Princess of Wales has been unable to undertake any official duties since the start of the year. If King Charles III has few working days, it is because he too is being treated for cancer. Queen Camilla’s husband resumed his public commitments on April 30, which is not yet the case for his daughter-in-law, who is still taking care of herself away from prying eyes. Princess Anne demonstrated her importance to the illness-stricken monarchy by taking on a third of royal engagements in the first four months of this year. The total number of official appearances by members of the royal family fell 25.6% in the first four months of the year compared to the same period last year. The tight monarchy desired by Charles III is necessarily less active when two of its important members are ill.
