EIt is recognizable among thousands, a capital D followed by a series of zigzags: the signature of Donald Trump. “Black marker is what he always uses,” according to Deborah Tarasoff, chief accounting officer at the Trump Organization. On Monday, the jury saw nine checks, made out to Trump’s former lawyer, Michael Cohen. A tough day, but necessary.

At 12e day of the trial in Manhattan, after a dive into the world of tabloids, playmates, stars ready to pay millions to save their reputation and lawyers who make a living from it, the prosecution attacked the heart of the case.
