The presenter, journalist and writer from Lyon, Bernard Pivot, died this Monday. Announcement from the family of the creator of the cult literary show Apostrophe.
This son of Lyon grocers, born in 1935, began his career as a journalist at Le Progrès, before joining Le Figaro Littéraire then hosting several shows, including Apostrophe and Bouillon de culture.
Bernard Pivot, specialist in spelling and known for his famous dictations, is also the author of numerous books. He also chaired the Académie Goncourt.
Emmanuel Macron paid tribute to the writer by describing him as a “smuggler, popular and demanding, dear to the hearts of the French“.
