The President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, is expected this Saturday at the Demba Diop high school in Mbour as part of the national “Setal Sunu Reew” day. The announcement was made yesterday by the Minister of National Education, Moustapha Mamba Guirassy, during a meeting with community education stakeholders.
This day, which mobilizes the entire school community, is dedicated to cleaning up establishments and highlighting the importance of a healthy environment for the development of students. Moustapha Guirassy insisted on the fundamental role of school in society. According to him, “school must be placed at the heart of everyone’s concerns, because it is essential for the restoration of declining values”.
The minister also highlighted the active presence of various segments of society, ranging from religious leaders to traditional communicators, including unions and ASCs (Sports and Cultural Associations). For the first time, such a broad national mobilization was initiated in favor of education. “This is a historic moment for our education system, and I am proud to see all the stakeholders united for the good of the school,” he declared.
This simultaneous presence of senior authorities shows the government’s commitment to making school a national priority.
The “Setal Sunu Reew” Day is intended to be a space for reflection and action on the importance of sanitation in educational establishments. It also recalls the collective involvement necessary to ensure optimal learning conditions for students.
Moustapha Guirassy invited the entire population to take part in this event, which demonstrates the importance given to education in building the Senegal of tomorrow.
