Costume designer Linda Brunelle won the Jovette-Marchessault prize this Monday, which rewards each year a woman who works in the Montreal theater sector.

A $20,000 scholarship was therefore awarded to Mme Brunelle, who has collaborated on numerous occasions with the illustrious directors Claude Poissant and Frédéric Dubois.

In a press release, she said she was touched to receive this prize which, since its creation in 2019, has celebrated the perseverance of many artists. “I undertake to take responsibility for it, that is to say, to continue my commitment to this living, fascinating and exciting art, which allows us at every moment to dream of a world in which the word freedom takes on its full meaning. “, she added.

Linda Brunelle, who has dressed various characters for three decades, is particularly fond of children’s works. She also works regularly with the Théâtre Le Carrousel or Le Clou.

The two other finalists for the prize this year, costume, set and props designer Elen Ewing and lighting designer Sonoyo Nishikawa, were entitled to a return ticket to Paris.

The award was awarded last year to director Alexia Bürger.
