Two 17-year-old firefighters die in a road accident in Saône-et-Loire

On the night of Saturday May 18 to Sunday May 19, 2024, a young man and a young woman aged 17 died in a car accident in Blanzy (Saône-et-Loire). The vehicle in which four passengers were traveling ended up in a pond.

Two people died on the night of Saturday May 18 to Sunday May 19, 2024, on board a vehicle that ended its journey in a pond in Blanzy (Saône-et-Loire). Of the four passengers, two were injured “without seriousness and hospitalized”reports France Blue Burgundy .

However, the two other passengers, a young man and a young woman aged 17, died. The first victim was a volunteer firefighter while the second “was to join the departmental corps next month”precise France 3 Burgundy-Franche-Comté .

The causes of the accident remain unknown

According to our colleagues, the causes of the accident remain unclear. Several fire engines were dispatched to the scene as well as a team of divers. The car in which the victims were located would have gone off course before ending up in the Monteuland pond, in Blanzy. The submerged vehicle was reportedly found upside down in the pond.
