CATSKILL — After a pause following the COVID-19 pandemic, WellNow Urgent Care centers are returning to the Capital Region in the northern Hudson Valley, with the newest facility opening earlier this month at 11 Maple Ave. in Catskill.

The clinics offer treatment for non-life-threatening injuries and illnesses, including flu, COVID-19 and RSV, as well as occupational medicine services, seven days a week from 8 am to 8 pm Patients can walk in or schedule a visit online.

WellNow Urgent Care locations in Rensselaer, Latham and Saratoga Springs have all reopened as well. A year ago, those three centers had closed as demand for COVID-19 testing waned and amid difficulties in getting staff, the company said at the time.

One center that was slated to open but hasn’t yet is in Glenmont, at the plaza on Route 9W across from Lowe’s. The signs are in place but the office was dark with no posted hours during a recent visit.

WellNow’s Capital Region clinics are part of a joint venture partnership with St. Peter’s Health Partners.

“Urgent care centers provide a vital service to the community, particularly in areas where primary care providers are booked solid or are non-existent,” says Dr. Robert Biernbaum, chief medical officer at WellNow Urgent Care, said in a statement. “Patients can be treated right away without having to go to the emergency department, where they’ll face long wait times and an expensive bill.”

The new center in Catskill says it will provide timely evaluation and treatment also for sprains, burns, lacerations and allergies, as well as on-site X-rays, lab testing and physicals. Occupational medicine services, including Workers’ Compensation assistance, pre-employment physicals, drug and alcohol testing and more will also be available on a walk-in basis.

Patients who prefer to speak with a WellNow provider virtually can also access the company’s Virtual Care platform.
