On October 1, 2024, three adults and a minor, all members of the same family, were arrested in Perpignan during a legal operation, we learned this Thursday in a press release from the Pyrénées-Orientales gendarmes. This intervention followed several weeks of investigation carried out by the Investigation and Fight Against Property Attacks Group (GELAB) of the Perpignan gendarmerie. Searches carried out at their home led to the seizure of numerous stolen items.
The facts date back to last March. Since this date, seven businesses located in the Pyrénées-Orientales and Aude have been targeted. The team of criminals acted in broad daylight, during store opening hours. The investigation, entrusted to GELAB on September 14, 2024, quickly focused on one and the same family. Through discreet surveillance, investigators were ultimately able to identify the suspects.
Presented in court the day after their arrest, the three adults were sentenced to prison terms: three years for one, one year for each of the other two. All three were placed under immediate arrest warrant. The minor thief, for his part, will have to appear later before the children’s judge.
