A Tourrettan, Marcelin Arthur Chaix born in 1929 and died last February, in his will, established the commune of Tourrettes as universal legatee of the property comprising his estate.

Day care for the elderly

The mayor specified, using the exact terms of the will, that “this legacy is conditional on the creation of a reception home to care for elderly parents when the families are working. This equipment must not have a profit but strictly social purpose”.

Assets of 2.5 million euros

To carry out this Tourrettan day care center for the elderly, the assets of the estate at the time of the death of Marcelin Arthur Chaix amounted to €2,187,301 in current accounts and €338,186 in life insurance contracts. “We can consider ourselves lucky for this legacy and show our gratitude to this Tourrettan, without a reserved heir, by standing up and applauding in memory of the late Mr. Chaix”declared the mayor, moved, regretting not having been able to do it during his lifetime since this will was not known.

The elected officials of the municipal council unanimously accepted the legacy of Marcelin Arthur Chaix and the creation of this reception structure with a social vocation.

Everyone agreed that it should integrate the existing one of the house of associations which already hosts the Oustaou Tourrettan, one of the oldest clubs intended for seniors in the Pays de Fayence. Expansion and embellishment work , just like the employment of three people are planned to make this place, nestled in a green setting at the foot of the Château du Puy, even more pleasant to live in.

Other deliberations

All adopted unanimously, they concerned, among other things, the annual free solicitation of an artist based in Tourrettes for the creation of the greetings card. “In return, this artist will directly benefit from broad promotion of his work given the long list of people to whom the municipality sends its best wishes each year,” said the mayor.

Other good news: that concerning the acquisition of the Jas Neuf farm, located to the north of the town on the Callian road in an ONF zone. “This acquisition was already the subject of a deliberation in December 2022 and since then, we have been awaiting the decree establishing the list of goods that can be sold by the State. This decree has been in effect since last July and I invites you to finalize the purchase, the amount of which amounts to 22,000 euros for an area of 4592m2, consisting of an old farm in ruins and a house which will be rehabilitated to accommodate the cowherd installed in this area, as for the farm, once restored, it could accommodate the CCFF of Callian/Tourrettes”.

Departmental subsidies

Finally, finance assistant Arnaud Raskin presented a modifying decision allowing transfers of credits and recording the revenue obtained: “First of all, we were waiting for insurance compensation regarding the fire at the Pause Tourrettanne restaurant. After two long years of negotiations, it is appropriate to record the corresponding amount which amounts to €198,915 on which we had already received an advance of €50,000 at the end of 2022.. In investment, the subsidies from the departmental council were notified to the municipality as follows: €150,000 for the carrying out of road works and €8,750 for the installation of video projectors in schools.
