According to the government spokesperson, needs a “recovery budget”.

Prime Minister Michel Barnier delivered his general policy speech to the National Assembly on Tuesday, October 1. He defined the 5 major projects of his government (purchasing power, access to quality public services, security, immigration and fraternity) and also announced the increase in the minimum wage by 2% on November 1st.

Concerning the tax increases which should affect large companies and the wealthiest French people, government spokesperson Maud Bregeon, guest of La Matinale de TF1 this Wednesday, indicated the deficit will reach 6% this year, i.e. “the highest in the European Union after Italy. “We believe that targeted, exceptional and temporary contributions must be part of the overall response,” she stressed, specifying that France needs a “recovery budget”.

These targeted contributions will be for companies which “have the means”, affirms Maud Bregeon, indicating that the Prime Minister’s goal is not to put businesses in difficulty or to slow down the creation of jobs and wealth. “The Barnier method is construction,” notes the MP from the Ensemble pour la République group, inviting the parliamentary groups opposed to the tax increase to propose their ideas.
