If it had fallen slightly in September, the benchmark price of gas will start to rise again from October 1st. It passes like this from 130.21 to 137.2 euros per megawatt hour, which corresponds to an increase of 5.37%, indicates the Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE). Made public each month, this reference price is based on an average estimate of the costs borne by gas suppliers for a residential customer.

Paid by the Family Allowance Fund (CAF), personalized housing assistance (which includes APL, ALF and ALS) is revalued in order to be in line with the price of rent. The increase is 3.26% this year. It was 3.50% last year. Please note that in October, the payment of aid will not be made as usual on the 5th of the month (this falling on a Saturday) but on the 7th.

50.94 euros on average per month. This is the amount that will be paid to around 850,000 retirees who have had a full career. This increase concerns small pensions which do not exceed 847.57 euros per month. The amount of this revaluation will be paid on October 9. It will then be renewed each year on January 1st.

This provision, which is part of the pension reform, was applied in September 2023 during a first wave of revaluation of “small pensions”. This then concerned 600,000 retirees who had low income during their professional career.

In order to combat the increase in fraudulent calls from fake advisors (particularly banking) and prevent the usurpation of landline telephone numbers, operators are deploying a system capable of authenticating the origin of a number. The system now implemented to counter these identity theft attacks – a technique called “spoofing” – is part of the law brought by Liot MP Christophe Naegelen in 2020. Authentication of calls is only possible on landlines operating with a internet subscription. Neither traditional telephone lines nor mobiles are, for the moment, part of the system.

In 2023, the damage linked to fraud through manipulation of victims was estimated at 379 million euros, out of a total amount of payment fraud of 1.2 billion euros.

In the tax department, October corresponds to the month of payment of property tax. Taxpayers – owners or usufructuary of real estate – who are not paid monthly have until October 15 to pay the fee, if they choose payment by check, transfer, interbank title, cash or bank card. The only requirement: the amount of tax must not exceed 300 euros.

For taxpayers who will have to pay a higher amount, they will have to make their payment online. They will have five additional days, and will therefore have until October 20 at midnight to pay their tax on the website. taxes (or on the smartphone application). Once the property tax payment is registered, owners’ bank accounts will be debited from October 25.

Each year, the start of autumn is synonymous with the flu vaccination campaign. This will begin on October 15, a date from which it will be possible to be vaccinated at your doctor’s office, in a pharmacy or in a midwife’s office.

Vaccination against seasonal flu is recommended each year for people said to be “at risk”, i.e. those aged 65 and over, those with chronic illnesses, those suffering from obesity, pregnant women and certain professionals, particularly those health. Concerning these people, the health insurance fund sends them a voucher allowing them to benefit from the flu vaccine free of charge and to be reimbursed for the injection.
