In the town of Plérin (22), at the port of Légué, the facade of a private house was vandalized with Nazi symbols and inscriptions. The graffiti includes swastikas, the SS symbol, as well as anti-Semitic references which are not accessible to everyone. These marks of hatred were painted during the night of May 1 to 2, 2024.

A symbolic and deliberate target

The target of these acts is not trivial. The building located at 3, rue de la Tour, visibly bears the symbol of the triangle, the distinctive sign of Freemasonry, and on the mailbox, an inscription GLNF (French National Grand Lodge). No other walls were affected on the other surrounding properties.

The mayor’s strong condemnation

The mayor expressed his indignation and his strong condemnation of this act via his Facebook page. “I am outraged, it’s terrifying,” comments Ronan Kerdraon, mayor of Plérin. This is not improvisation: the reference to the Kalergi plan (far-right conspiracy theory) clearly proves that it is a thoughtful act. » The first councilor recalls that these acts occur a few days after the commemoration of Deportation Day, reinforcing the particularly serious and symbolic nature of this incident. “This happened on a secondary road, a busy place, not isolated. Such acts also suggest a feeling of impunity,” the mayor takes offense. Since the tags were made on private property, it is up to the owners to decide whether to remove them and to file a complaint.

The feeling of indignation is palpable in neighboring businesses: “This kind of inscription is horrible!” Passers-by even came up to me to tell me how shocked they were,” says a manager just a stone’s throw from the acts of vandalism.
