Although they have been separated for a long time, many fans are still calling for the return of the Unknowns. In the columns of Sunday newspaperthis September 29, Bernard Campan revived their hopes by explaining that the trio had a project that could well come to fruition.
If we tell you a cult comedy trio from the 90s, parodying social facts and musical culture of the time, you obviously answer Les Inconnus! Launched in the 80s, Bernard Campan, Didier Bourdon and Pascal Legitimus first started on stage with little iconic sketches which gradually made them famous. Gaining popularity with the French public, they ended up convincing the most reluctant by launching into cinema with a successful first film: The three brothers. This feature film also allowed them to win the César for best first film in 1995. If a sequel was made in 2014, since then the trio has not reformed despite the hopes and expectations of fans. The group has indeed gone through some areas of turbulenceas Bernard Campan explained several times: “We argued, yes. There were shouting matches, that’s part of life. Often, we put a curtain on it. We don’t speak again for a while. Afterwards, we talk to each other again, we tell each other that we don’t understand each other… It’s complicated, groups are very complicated.” And if the trio does not reform, it is because Bernard Campan is slowing down : “It’s me who’s blocking it. I am still open and we are recently discussing it again with Didier Bourdon of what would be possible”, he explained in 2021.
“We have a project with Riad Sattouf”
And if since then, there has been radio silence on a possible return of the Unknowns, Bernard Campan has just revived hope! In the columns of Sunday newspaperthis September 29, 2024, the actor explained that he had a project with his acolytes : “We have had a project with Riad Sattouf for three or four years: a film for which he would write the script and direct. He should soon present us with a second version. I hope it happens: we would love to play together again without having to write.” This is something to delight the fans. Fingers crossed!
