QoQa and Visarte Vaud renew the “Arts Day”

QoQa organizes Thursday May 2, 2024 the second edition of its “Arts Day”, in partnership with Visarte Vaud. The proposed works were selected by a jury composed of Nathalie Chaix (director of the Jenisch Museum in Vevey), Jonas Durtschi (otter buyer and project manager at QoQa), Alexis Georgacopoulos (director of ECAL / Lausanne High School of Art and Design), Florence Grivel (art historian and journalist), Sandrine Pelletier (artist), Denis Roueche (artist and vice-president of Visarte Vaud) and Bertrand Tappy (communication and DNA QoQa ), among the dozens of files that were received following an appeal launched several months ago.

This operation is the result of a common observation by the two partners of the operation: the world of culture and especially that of artists has always been in a complicated economic situation – not to say catastrophic – for years. A precariousness that the coronavirus crisis has only revealed to the general public.

What is the Visarte Vaud association?
It brings together visual artists, architects and free curators in Switzerland. Its objective is to defend the interests of its members at the political, legal and social rights levels. Founded in 1866, it has thousands of members and includes around twenty regional groups, including Visarte Vaud which stands out for its own characteristics.

During the first edition which took place on March 27, 2022, 7 prints created by 7 artists from the region were offered for sale on QoQa.ch at the fixed price of CHF 250.—. More than 50% of the profits from this sale were donated to the artists.

This operation was therefore the first action in a series to try to raise awareness of Swiss artists and support them, while providing greater accessibility to art. A desire which is reminiscent of the “PiQasso” action – since renamed “Mousquetaire on Tour” – set up 7 years ago by QoQa, which enabled 25,000 people to participate in the first community purchase in line of a work by a great master and which is currently planning the first mobile exhibition of a work by a major artist.

The launch of the offer will be preceded by an evening at Bussigny HQ, with a screening of the works and a round table on the current situation of artists in French-speaking Switzerland hosted by QoQa.
