Voices have been circulating lately explaining that Prince Andrew’s ex-wife could soon return to the monarchy. Rumors denied by royal expert Craig Brown.

Since the death of Elizabeth II in 2022, speculation has surrounded a possible return of Sarah Ferguson to the closed circle of the monarchy. On September 26, author Craig Brown dismissed these rumors out of hand during an interview with Sky News . The royal expert, author of the work A Voyage Around The Queenassured that King Charles III did not really carry his former sister-in-law in his heart. Sarah Ferguson, ex-wife of Prince Andrew and mother of his two daughters, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, has in fact remained very close to the latter and still often attends official events. King Charles III would not have her in his heart, said Craig Brown: “She is not his cup of tea.”

According to him, Sarah Ferguson would occupy too important a place in the royal family, although she is the mother of the king’s nieces, and the king would not want her to monopolize more privileges. Note that Ferguson inherited the late Queen Elizabeth’s corgis, Muick and Sandy, which she shares with her ex-husband, Prince Andrew. Craig Brown explains that his use of the former sovereign’s animals to increase his notoriety is not well regarded.

Persona non grata

Divorced since 1996, Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew have remained on very good terms and even live under the same roof, at the Royal Lodge in Windsor. Although they live in separate rooms, they enjoy moments of relaxation together, such as tea time and some walks. Accused of sexual assault and implicated in the Jeffrey Epstein affair, the little brother of Charles III has become persona non grata within the English royal family. Stripped of all his titles and kept away from the media, he was able to count on the unwavering support of his former partner, which further strengthened their ties.
