National Day of Remembrance for Victims and Heroes of Deportation

This Sunday, April 28, the ceremony of the National Day of Remembrance of the Victims and Heroes of the Deportation was held at the War Memorial.

This commemoration took place in the presence of Marc Makhlouf Sub-Prefect of Châteaubriant/Ancenis, Catherine Ciron, 1st Deputy, Sophie Bourdais, Deputy Environment and Soft Mobility, Evelyne Bollerot, representing the Association of Interned Deportees and Families of the Disappeared of Châteaubriant, Philippe Dugravot, Departmental Advisor, Captain Hugues Verlaine, second in command of the Châteaubriant Gendarmerie company, Lieutenant Baptiste Marbache, Commander of the Châteaubriant Brigade Community, Louis Prime President and Administrator of the National Union of Combatants.

The Municipality thought of all the victims of Châteaubriant and its region, as well as the families of the deportees. This ceremony is held every year to honor the memory of all deportees, women, men and children without distinction, sent to Nazi concentration or extermination camps during the Second World War.

After listening to the Marseillaise, Evelyne Bollerot carried out the reading of the National message written jointly by the federation of Deportees and the Associations of Victims and Heroes of Deportation.

To conclude this ceremony, three wreaths were laid by Evelyne Bollerot, Catherine Ciron and Sophie Bourdais, Marc Makhlouf and Captain Hugues Verlaine. Then, following the Chant des Marais and the Chant des Partisans, the elected officials and officials present wanted to thank and greet the flag bearers and gathered during the friendly drink served at the Foyer-Restaurant.
