The world of cycling is in suspense for Muriel Furrer, the young 18-year-old Swiss rider, who is in a “very critical” condition after suffering a heavy fall during the junior road race at the World Championships, this Thursday in Zurich, indicated the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI).

“Muriel Furrer was taken to hospital by helicopter. “He suffered serious head trauma and is in a very critical condition,” announced the UCI, which was “extremely concerned” in a press release.

“At the moment there are no proven facts about how the accident happened,” the UCI said. The junior race took place this Thursday on wet roads, and with heavy rain falling on the Swiss city.
