You are worth more than pigs by David Nolent – Thought for the Day

Swave the scriptures

All the inhabitants of the city went out to meet Jesus, and as soon as they saw him, they begged him to leave their territory.
Matthew 8.34

The reaction of these residents is surprising. It follows a miracle that Jesus performed when he freed two men from the grip of powerful demons. These demons were begging Jesus to be sent into a herd of swine. Jesus responded positively to their request, so that the possessed pigs jumped down a slope and fell into the lake to drown.

Why did the townspeople ask Jesus to leave their territory?

This is because of the loss of the herd of great market value. Notice the choice of Jesus: he placed more value on people than on the property of the inhabitants, which was not appreciated by everyone. Jesus is the Word of God made flesh. His entire life demonstrates that God’s heart is filled with love and mercy. His reaction will always be to abandon the 99 sheep that are safe to go after the lost sheep (Matthew 18:12).

What about you, my friend? Do you value people more than your possessions? If God were to remove a valuable possession, toxic relationship, situation, or position from your life in order to free you from evil, would you be like these locals asking Jesus to move away from you? Or will you get closer to him?

Elisten to the voice of God

Do you sometimes feel like you’re not worth much? Take time today to listen to God reassure you about this.

Praying is simple. Talk to God like a close friend who can hear everything. You can tell him: Lord, if you decided today to upset my comfort or my habits, if I were to lose things that are of value to me, it doesn’t matter: come and remove everything that is not from you in my life, and only your will be done in the name of Jesus. Amen !

Louer God

Praising God means showing him our gratitude day after day. Today you can bless him, because you are precious in his eyes, much more than all the riches in the world. You can take some time to thank him with all your heart, by singing to him out loud, for example!

HASact today

If you have been taught that it is wrong to say nice things about yourself, that is a lie. What looks like humility is actually false humility, even pride. So dare to put your thoughts and words in tune with your God, and look at yourself with his eyes of love!

Hhonor the Lord

Our journey for the day ends. Let us pray together to honor our God.

Thank you, Lord, for reminding me today of the great value I have for you. Yours be the kingdom, the power and the glory, amen !
