King Charles III will resume public activities next Tuesday, for the first time since the revelation of his cancer in early February, Buckingham Palace announced Friday April 26. Since the announcement of his illness, the British sovereign had canceled all his official public commitments, while continuing to fulfill certain functions or to honor certain appointments in small groups, like his weekly meetings with Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.

If Buckingham Palace provides few details regarding the state of health of the king, the nature of the cancer is still unknown, a palace spokesperson emphasizes that “His treatment program will continue, but doctors are sufficiently satisfied with the progress made so far that the King is now able to resume a number of public engagements”.

Charles III’s doctors judge the evolution of his state of health “very encouraging” and remain “optimists” regarding his ongoing recovery, added a Buckingham Palace spokesperson. The king will visit with his wife Camilla at a cancer center next Tuesday. There, the royal couple will meet with the medical team and patients, according to the palace.
