The after-effects are still there, the wounds gaping, and the hearts bruised after the nightmarish evening experienced yesterday by the Stéphanois in Nice. The humiliation is total after the Greens lost 8 to 0, a sadly historic performance. A beginning of a gap seems to be growing between the ASSE team and its supporters.
Dall’Oglio apologizes to ASSE supporters
There were 350 (approximately) who travelled to Nice and took their places in the Allianz Riviera enclosure this Friday evening to support their team and proclaim their love for Sainté. Yes, but the evening quickly turned into a nightmare and it only got worse. The 6th Nice goal was the straw that broke the camel’s back for the groups of supporters, who had already anticipated and had already cleared the tarpaulins. The enclosure then emptied very quickly, proof of the extent of the feeling of humiliation and shame felt by these supporters who agree to make significant sacrifices every week.
Beyond the valiant supporters who made the trip, this feeling was shared by thousands of supporters across the country and even beyond, who most certainly had a terrible headache when they woke up on Saturday morning.
At a press conference after the match, Olivier Dall’Oglio made a point of apologizing to the supporters, something rare enough to be highlighted, although it does nothing to cure the sadness and frustration of the latter: “Today, I understand the reaction of the supporters. I apologize to them because I know that it is sometimes very hard to travel, to come and support us. They do it with fervor. Today, we were not up to par.”

Back in L’Etrat this Saturday morning to debrief this shipwreck and the usual clean-up, the players and staff of ASSE were able to measure again the disappointment that they were able to cause among their supporters. Indeed, a tag awaited them at the entrance of the Robert-Herbin Sports Center, with an explicit message: “8-0, Go get F******ed!!!”.
It is important to note that this message was not signed and therefore cannot be attributed to anyone. However, this message is likely to raise questions about the hypothesis of the beginnings of frustration among supporters? From there to talking about a rumble, there is only one step. It remains to be seen how many supporters will take to the road again next weekend to cross France and encourage the Greens in Nantes, and what kind of welcome they will receive from the enclosure.
