Lek & Sowat touch wood with four hands

The star duo of French urban art presents a selection of works from their new series “Knock on wood”. Photo ST

Lek & Sowat, inseparable since adolescence. The pair in search of urban exploration works with the older ones. The forty-year-olds pose their architectural abstractions, unstructured typographies and ephemeral installations in the four corners of the world. And they are multiplying large-scale projects as much as they are sharpening their reputation: in Marseille, Les Murs de la L2, Le Couvent; in , the facade of the Opera; in Paris, the Molitor swimming pool. And Tracés Directs, creation of a Nuit Blanche at the Palais de Tokyo, is the first work of graffiti to enter the permanent collection of the Center Pompidou.

For his first collaboration with Lek & Sowat, gallery owner Diego Escobar gave carte blanche to the star duo, whose work is the subject of a retrospective at the prestigious art center of Pierresvives, on the condition that he proposes “something never done before“. The two artists set their sights on wood to create the series Knock on wood (“touch wood”, as in French).

The reconstruction of the film “Naïs” by Marcel Pagnol

“Naïs” is performed in the hills by Marcel Pagnol. Gilles BADER

In the hills of Allauch, the Pichauris estate becomes the giant scene for the reconstruction of the film “Naïs” by Marcel Pagnol by the company Dans la Cour des grands.

The company Dans la Cour des grands brings to life the works of the writer-filmmaker in the landscapes that inspired him. After adapting The Well-Digger’s Daughter, Manon des Sources and The Baker’s Wife, she now presents Naïs. The public is invited to follow a ten-kilometer route through the hills, punctuated by memorable scenes from Pagnol’s film. Each stop is chosen to highlight the natural settings that served as a backdrop to these stories. “The landscape will become a full-fledged actor in this show. It will give substance to the story,” assures Emmanuel Fell, artistic director of the company. We will thus follow the struggles of the sweet Naïs, that of a woman who fights for love, but also against the influence of her father. A story of emancipation which has a timeless vocation.

Date and times: Every Saturday and Sunday until June 8, 2024 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Place : Departmental domain of Pichauris, Allauch. Ten kilometers of walking on marked trails and trails.

Prices : 20.50 euros for children (8 to 18 years old). Adult: 42.50 euros.
