April 28 is proclaimed World Day for Safety and Health at Work. What is the objective of this day?

The main objective of this day is to promote a culture of occupational safety and health throughout the world.
The increase in work accidents and occupational diseases continues.
The risk of occupational disease would today be the greatest danger to which workers would be exposed in their workplace. In fact, these diseases kill 1.7 million people per year, which gives a ratio of four deaths caused by an occupational disease for every one death caused by an accident.

Diseases and work

The most common occupational diseases are legion: cancers caused by exposure to dangerous substances, musculoskeletal conditions, respiratory diseases, hearing loss, circulatory diseases, contagious diseases caused by exposure to pathogens, and many more. others still. In many industrialized countries, where the number of deaths caused by work accidents has decreased, the number of deaths caused by occupational diseases is, on the contrary, increasing.

Stress at work

Stress affects 4 out of 10 employees. It is clearly increasing in higher categories (47%) and for senior managers (57%).

What are the causes of stress at work?

The causes are primarily to be found in the organization of work in 41% of cases. And non-fulfillment of personal requirements. Relations with hierarchy and colleagues for 31% of cases. Changes in work also play an important role.

The repercussions of stress at work impact our personal lives. 37% of employees say they are very tired. Stressed people reported having experienced one or more symptoms including: muscle tension (29%), sleep problems (25%), anxiety (25%), decreased alertness (12%). The accumulation of symptoms is likely to trigger more serious pathologies.

For women, stress is attributed to both professional and personal life (lack of time, double day, working conditions, etc.)

Stressful situations that persist over time always have a cost for the health of the individuals who experience them. They also have negative repercussions on the functioning of companies (turnover, lost working days, loss of production quality, demotivation among teams, etc.)

It is therefore necessary to provide solutions to reduce stress and tension in the world of work. Everyone will benefit.
