The famous annual heritage festival is back on 21 and 22 September. Launched in 1985 in France under the name of “Open Day in Historic Monuments”, the event is now spread across Europe and is the most renowned cultural event in which European citizens participate together.
On the program in Castelnau-le-Lez, organized by the City’s Culture Department: exhibitions, workshop, guided tours, discovery booklet and concert!
A weekend full of events
The exhibition “The liberation of Montpellier, August 1944” will be available at the Pierre-Fournel cultural center, Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 September from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., in partnership with the Resistance and Deportation Museum. A Middle Ages games and entertainment workshop will be set up for 6-12 year olds at the Pierre-Fournel cultural center, Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 September from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Between popular and religious festivals and games of all kinds, visitors will be able to discover the entertainment of the Middle Ages and learn different board games with the possibility of making them on site out of canvas. Several 45-minute guided tours with free admission, led by David Boyer, tour guide, will be set up at the Saint-Jean-Baptiste church, Saturday at 10:30 a.m. and 4:45 p.m. and Sunday at 10:45 a.m. La glacière (17 rue Roger Salengro), Saturday at 2 p.m. h and Sunday at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Discovery booklet: To discover the center of Castelnau-le-Lez, its history and its monuments with your family, while having fun! Available at the Espace culturel Pierre-Fournel all weekend. Finally, a concert on Saturday 21 at 7:30 p.m., at the Saint Jean-Baptiste church. Airs and duets ranging from romantic sacred music to the most beautiful pages of French and Italian opera. Prices: €12, €8 and €5.
