Seventeen dead bodies were recovered from the waters of the Ituri River in the space of two weeks in the Bakwanza groupement, Mambasa territory in the province of Ituri.

The New Congolese Civil Society of Mambasa presented this assessment on Monday April 22 during a meeting with notables from the Matolo locality, the administrator of the territory of Mambassa and the commander of the 31st intervention brigade.

According to this force structure, among the remains taken from the water, there are those of women and children, who had been taken hostage by the ADF on March 22 in Matolo.

Some of these hostages had been executed by ADF rebels.

Still according to New Civil Society, other bodies of people kidnapped by the ADF are still floating on the waters of the same river.

She also explains that these rebels are taking advantage of the absence of security forces to commit abuses against civilians.

The civil society of Mambassa and notables from the Bakwanza group in Matolo are requesting the rapid intervention of the military to put an end to this ADF activism in their entity.

The command of the 31st intervention brigade reassures that arrangements have been made to deploy the army in this region located on the border between the province of Ituri and the territory of Beni in North Kivu.
