Shogun : What is it?

Shogun is a series freely adapted from eponymous bestseller by James Clavell published in 1975The latter explores in particular the power struggles in 17th century Japan.
Although it is a fictional novelthe British author relied on real historical figures and events occurred during the time of feudal Japan to create its history.

Halfway between Game of Thrones And Successionaccording to series experts, Shogun is available on the Disney + streaming platform. This mini-series comes in the form of ten episodes of approximately 1 hour each.

What about a season 2?

Initially, Shogun was presented to the public as being a mini-series : in other words, it should not contain more than one season.
But in the face of its resounding success, it was finally renewed for new episodesas the site announces Numerama.

While season 1 was based on the novel by James Clavell, the website explains that the sequel to this series will not be.
Regarding the casting of this new season, it seems that the main actor, Hiroyuki Sanada, has already signed for reprise his role as Yoshi Toranaga. According to NumeramaCosmo Jarvis should also put his costume back on John Blackthorne. On the other hand, the co-star of season 1, Anna Sawai, would be, for her part, the great absentee of this new season.
Finally, regarding the release date of season 2, we will have to arm yourself with patience. Indeed, since filming has still not started – due to the lack of a script that is still being written – it would not be surprising to have to wait until 2026 to see episodes of Shogun.
