After posting a photo of herself in a swimsuit on Instagram, Paul Belmondo’s ex-wife received a wave of derogatory comments against her, to which she sent scathing responses.

“Always love yourself.” It was by sharing this “body-positive” message, written in Italian, that Luana Belmondo revealed her figure in a one-piece swimsuit on Instagram on August 24. However, her unvarnished publication did not create the desired effect, quite the contrary. In response to her outburst of self-love, the former partner of Paul Belmondo, from whom she divorced in June 2024 after thirty-three years of marriage, was blamed, in addition to receiving countless criticisms targeting her physical appearance.

Indeed, some Internet users criticized her for showing herself publicly in a swimsuit, allowing themselves to make remarks about her body: “Why put herself in a swimsuit photo, what does she want to prove?” The mother of Alessandro, Victor and Giacomo Belmondo responded sarcastically: “You didn’t know that to exist, you have to wear a swimsuit? It’s a very widespread practice, apparently. Try it and you’ll see that your whole life will change.” “In a swimsuit? What’s happening to her?” someone else protested. And Luana responded, still with humor: “It’s crazy… I must have gotten sunburn on my head… I’m wearing a swimsuit…” Mamma mia. Have a nice day.”

A remark targeting her weight particularly caught her attention, prompting her to offer a scathing response to its author. “What’s the message? You have to lose weight before your husband leaves?”, said this person named Claudie. “Thanks for the advice. I’ll think about going on a diet, getting a facelift and maybe having my breasts redone (they sag at my age), that way, I’m sure my next husband will stay,” she replied, attracting the empathy of her fans in the rest of the conversation.

Faced with this wave of online hate, the 53-year-old Italian chef remained impassive and admitted that criticism of her physique or ageist remarks did not affect her. “It slides off me like oil… Long live women after 50 who are happy in their minds and bodies,” she proclaimed in the comments below her publication.
