The President of the National Assembly, Yaël Braun-Pivet, calls for a “case-by-case” second round in the event of a vote involving a candidate from La France Insoumise. She cites as examples the cases of Caroline Fiat and David Guiraud, two candidates from La France Insoumise, one deserving to be “supported” and the other to be “fought”.
Invited to RMC and BFMTV this Monday, the outgoing president of the National Assembly Yaël Braun-Pivet calls on Ensemble voters to “case by case” for the second round of the legislative elections. If Prime Minister Gabriel Attal does not want “any vote for the RN”, Yaël Braun-Pivet wants to make the “distinguo” according to the left-wing candidates still in the running in the event of a second round.
“The vast majority of the bloc is Republican and we can call to vote for them, and that is what I am doing for the socialists, ecologists and communists,” assures the outgoing MP for Yvelines.

The example of David Guiraud and Caroline Fiat
But she adds a nuance in the event of a second round with a deputy from La France Insoumise: “Within La France Insoumise, I make the distinction, on a case-by-case basis, I am nuanced.”
“I don’t treat Caroline Fiat and David Guiraud in the same way. Caroline Fiat is a great republican, a humanist caregiver who deplored the ‘ambient chaos’ in the National Assembly,” explains Yaël Braun-Pivet. On the contrary, she believes that David Guiraud, the outgoing deputy from the North, “does not adhere to the values of the Republic and expresses anti-Semitic ideas.”
“Caroline Fiat deserves to be supported and the other deserves to be fought night and day,” continued the President of the National Assembly.
“I say to the French, look in your constituency, look at who the candidates are, what values they uphold, the vision of the Republic they have, that’s what matters to me,” she adds, while a major part of the left has united under the banner of the New Popular Front, bringing together environmentalists, socialists and rebels in particular.

“Do I look finished?”
And despite the poor results of the presidential party in the first round, Yaël Braun-Pivet believes that the match is not yet over: “Do I look finished?” she asks.
“I am in a good position to be re-elected in my constituency. As long as the elections are not over, we cannot prejudge the result,” she continues after coming in first with 42.8% of the votes ahead of the NFP candidates ( 27.3%) and RN (22.9%) in the 5th constituency of Yvelines. “Many candidates are still in the running, we must support them,” she concludes.
