Born June 16, 1934 in Cleveland, Ohio, Wilbert Francisco Cobbs (his full name) did not begin his career in front of the camera or on stage but in the army, in the US Air Force more precisely, in which he remained eight years before becoming a salesman (at IBM then in the automobile industry). It was only at the dawn of the 70s that he changed direction, moving to New York to become an actor. The first years were difficult and, alongside his dramatic aspiration, he supported himself by driving a taxi, selling toys, repairing objects… It was in 1974 that he made his first appearance on the big screen with the classic The subway pirates.
