From the increase in gas prices to the opening of the energy check claims window, to the publication of a decree enacting the new unemployment insurance reform, the month of July announces many changes and new features for French. We take stock.
After the rise in gas prices in May, another is scheduled for July 1. All suppliers will apply an increase of 5.5% for households using gas for heating, and 10.4% for those using this energy for cooking or to produce domestic hot water, the commission announced energy regulation (CRE). For the month of July, the reference price for gas will therefore be around 13 euro cents per kWh.
In addition to the increasing gas prices, it is also during the next month that the complaints counter for households who have not received their energy check will be open. According to a decree published on June 20 in the official journal, this platform will be available until December 31, 2024. The aggrieved French people therefore have until the end of the year to claim the 2024 energy check.
As a reminder, due to the elimination of the housing tax for main residences, data from many households eligible for the energy check were lost. A loss of information which meant that nearly a million households did not receive the energy check this year.
Transfers from the DGFiP, MaPrimeRénov’ and decree implementing the new unemployment insurance reform
As usual, it is during the summer that the general directorate of public finances makes refunds of overpayments to all households subject to withholding tax. This year, the DGFiP will make two payments, the first on Wednesday July 24 and the second on Wednesday July 31. Each year, between 10 and 15 million households benefit from these reimbursements.
The MaPrimeRénov’ system will also see some changes from July 1, the “Supported Journey” will, for example, be open to all landlord owners. Currently, this system is only accessible to owner-occupiers with limited resources. In addition to MaPrimeRénov, the energy performance diagnosis (DPE) will see the modification of the thresholds of its labels from next month, this approach aims to remove certain goods from the category of “thermal strainers”.
Regarding unemployment insurance, the Prime Minister, Gabriel Attal, also announced that a decree “will be issued by July 1”, the latter will note the various changes which will impact job seekers from December.
