An 18-year-old boy died and another of the same age was seriously injured after a knife attack during a brawl which occurred on the night of Saturday June 22 to Sunday June 23 in Niort (Deux-Sèvres).
An altercation that turns into drama. During a brawl which occurred during the night from Saturday to Sunday in the Port-Boinot district of Niort (Deux-Sèvres), an 18-year-old man was killed and another of the same age was seriously injured.
“This was a fight involving several people. One of them pulled out a knife which injured two people, one of whom fatally, explained a police source, specifying that the perpetrator(s) were still being sought.
The firefighters arrived on the scene at 3:25 a.m. to “provide assistance to (these) two men injured with knives a few minutes earlier,” detailed Julien Wattebled, public prosecutor in Niort, in a press release confirming information from the daily La Nouvelle République.
The two victims were evacuated to hospital, where the death of a young man aged 18 was pronounced at 4:30 a.m. The other victim underwent emergency surgery with a life-threatening condition. His condition remains “serious but stabilized” at this stage, according to the prosecutor.
The prosecution opened an investigation into murder and attempted murder, entrusted to the Niort police station and the interdepartmental judicial police service (SIPJ 86), organized and specialized crime division (DCOS) of Poitiers.
“All means are being used to identify the author(s) of these acts and to understand their origin,” explained the prosecution, before launching a call for witnesses.
