The mass arrests have clearly had some effectiveness, with the number of homicides increasing from 87 per 100,000 in 2019, the year he came to power, to 2.41 in 2023.
Omnipresent on social networks, the president even made a final tweet this Monday, in response to a French Internet user who invited him to reign over the Élysée. “We will first have to annex El Salvador, as you did with Corsica”replied the Salvadoran president, who definitely seems to know France well.
