Defeated by KO in the 4th round against Alex Pereira during the main event of UFC 307 this Saturday, Khalil Rountree reacts to his defeat.
The main event of UFC 307 will have been spectacular. Khalil Rountree and Alex Pereira fought a real war this Saturday in Salt Lake City. In the end, it was the Brazilian who won against the American by knocking him out in the 4th round. Despite the defeat, Khalil Rountree won the respect of the fans by delivering a great performance. He stuck to his words which were to box with Alex Pereira and not to deny himself. The fight will even end up elected fight of the night. At the end of the fight, very damaged, Khalil Rountree will be directly transported to Salt Lake City hospital.
Khalil Rountree ‘grateful’
Khalil Rountree will undoubtedly have offered the greatest adversity to Alex Pereira since the latter became champion in the -93kgs category. Neither Jamahal Hill nor Jiri Prochazka will have taken ‘Poatan’ until the 4th round. Interviewed at the end of the fight by Joe Rogan, when he was barely standing, Khalil Rountree reacted to his defeat:
“Before I went into this fight, I just thought I would be grateful. I was really excited to come here and just enjoyed every moment. I don’t think I was surprised at all. I thought I was going to be able to hit him a lot more often. He did a really good job avoiding shots.”
Khalil Rountree will have to win a few more fights before he can fight for the title again. As for Alex Pereira, the champion could be tempted by a move up to heavyweight.
