The Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr recently spoke about Stephen Curry’s awful night as the team lost at home to LeBron James-led LA Lakers. It was a close encounter that ended in the favour of the LA Lakers (118-108).
What did Steve Kerr say about Stephen Curry after their loss to LA Lakers?
Stephen Curry had a great first quarter in which he scored eight points and added five more in the second quarter. But things changed quickly as Laker’s defence stepped up and kept Curry quiet for the rest of the game. A handful of players were put to task to mark Curry which created problems for him when his side needed him the most.
After the game, Steve Kerr spoke to the reporters and was even asked about Stephen Curry’s cold second half, to which the head coach responded ‘it’s part of the game’ and it could happen to the best of players at times.
It happens occasionally even to the best shooter on Earth. It’s just part of the game. He had a tough night, but he’ll bounce back.
It was a night to forget for Curry as he only registered 13 points on the board. He had two assists and two steals, going 4-for-17 from the field and 2-for-9 beyond the arc. Curry even missed all of his eight shot attempts in the second half as the Golden State Warriors succumbed to their 23rd loss of the season.
LeBron James, on the other hand, in comparison to Curry had a good game as he got 25 points, five rebounds and 12 assists in helping the Lakers beat the Warriors. Anthony Davis played a major role in the team’s performance as he got 36 points, 13 rebounds, three assists and three steals. Austin Reaves also chipped in with 16 points, five rebounds and seven assists.
For the Golden State Warriors, only seven players got to the double figures in terms of points, which was led by Andrew Wiggins’ 20-point effort. In his second game after making a return from an injury, Brandin Podziemski scored 17 points.
-ESPN Stephen A. Smith blames Stephen Curry
According to the analysts, one of the biggest problems for the Golden State Warriors this season has been the lack of a clear second star behind Stephen Curry. Andrew Higgins is doing a wonderful job at the Warriors and playing his best game. But, the best use of Wiggins can only come from playing him as a third option and primary perimeter defender of the opposing team’s best player.
ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith puts all the blame on Curry for not demanding help from the management ahead of the February 7 deadline.
You’re not saying, ‘Damn it, this is not enough. I’m not happy with this. I need more. We know LeBron’s going to do that. That’s what he does religiously. He makes it an annual thing for ’em. That’s not Steph.
Warriors have a bunch of young players and draft picks to their name in the trade market.
