Alexander Zverev made it into the 2nd round of the Australian Open. Sophia Thomalla, his partner, is on site to support the German number one.
Melbourne – the start is made. Alexander Zverev has moved into the 2nd round of the Australian Open more than confidently. Against the Frenchman Lucas Pouille, the German number one was a “relatively solid match”, as Zverev even explained after the success of the Eurosport.
Zverev trains again after success
In the end, the 27-year-old German Pouille gave no chance in the smooth 3-0 win (6: 4, 6: 4, 6: 4)-even though Zverev only took three of his 18 (!) Break chances. “That was not great,” also knew the Olympic champion of 2021. However, he also explained this with the lack of match practice. “It is much more important that I have not been naked.”
-In order to make up for the lack of match practice, the Hamburger took the racket out of his pocket again despite the success of the opening and trained – although he had previously been on the pitch for 2:21 hours.
Thomalla feer Zverev at the Orth of the
Zverev was once again cheered on by his girlfriend Sophia Thomalla. As already in 2024, the TV presenter accompanies her loved one in Australia and supports him up close. After the success of the opening, Thomalla, of course, did not miss the opportunity to congratulate Zverev in the catacombs.
From this scene, the 35-year-old posted a video on Instagram. And Zverev and Thomalla seem to have a very special ritual for their greeting. Because the dream couple clap several times before there is a kiss in the end. But see yourself:

Zverev also in round two clear favorites
Under the video, the comments of enthusiastic fans immediately frolicked – and not just from them. Tennis legend Boris Becker commented: “Very nice”, while Sophia’s mother Simone Thomalla reacted to the video with several red hearts. A fan asked appropriately: “Oh no, how cute is that please?”
It is to be hoped that the joint cheers were not the last for the next few days. Because Zverev did not travel to Melbourne to move into the second round. He finally wants to win his first Grand Slam title here. Zverev reached the second round for the ninth in a row in Melbourne. There, the Hamburger is also a clear favorite in the duel with Pedro Martinez from Spain. ((DPA/KK)
