Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti called on his players to continue with the same performance they provided over the past five rounds of the Spanish League, in a statement he made to the media after the great victory he achieved at Valladolid Stadium with a score of 0-3 on Saturday evening.
Real Madrid strengthened its lead in the La Liga standings with 49 points, 4 points ahead of second-placed Atletico Madrid, which tied with Villarreal earlier in today’s matches 1-1 at its Metropolitano Stadium.
Although he is 10 clear points away from third-placed Barcelona, which awaits a difficult match tomorrow, Sunday, against Valencia, Ancelotti stressed in the press conference that La Liga has not been decided yet, as there is still a long way to go, as there are 17 full rounds remaining.
Ancelotti added, “The League has not been decided yet, and it is too early to talk about ensuring the lead. We still have a long way to go. In order to continue to lead, we must continue in the same vein by achieving positive results.”
Real Madrid has not lost a single point in La Liga since its 3-3 draw against its host Rayo Vallecano on December 14th, after which it succeeded in defeating Sevilla, Valencia, Las Palmas and Valladolid, and its last loss was against Bilbao on December 4th.
-Regarding his opinion on the performance presented by the young Spanish defender Raul Asensio after he moved from the center back position to the right back, the Italian coach replied, saying, “Asensio was good even though he was not accustomed to playing in the right back position, but he had speed and focus, which is why he succeeded in his new mission, and soon… Alaba will be able to play as a starter.”
He concluded his talk about Frenchman Kylian Mbappe scoring a hat-trick against Valladolid by saying, “Mbappe scored a hat-trick and this is the result of the great work he has done over the past period. He has been able to raise the score significantly over the past two months.”
Real Madrid travels to France this week to face Brest in the eighth round of the Champions League, and in that match it will look for a win, perhaps the other results will serve it to occupy a qualifying position directly to the round of 16 without competing in a two-match playoff.
