Cercle Brugge remains unbeaten under Feldhofer (Bruges) after Intense Party against Tienkoppig Charleroi

Charleroi –

Sporting Charleroi left the chance on a marshy and heavy field to get 1 point of the top six. Guigagon headed the zebras in the lead and saw the second goal rejected. Somers recovered before the rest for Cercle and despite the second yellow card of Keita, the 1-1 remained on the board fifteen minutes before time. Cercle also did not succeed in winning again in Charleroi after 10 years, but still remains unbeaten under Ferdinand Feldhofer.

Charleroi and Cercle Brugge are doing well in recent weeks and so there was little reason for both coaches to change. Unless emerged and coincidentally for both the home-and-ahead in midfield. At Charleroi, Petris was out and he was replaced by Guiumon, with Cercle, Agyekum had a burden on the ribs and Feldhofer was able to grab again to Hannes van der Bruggen. At the age of 31, he raises the average age a bit to 23.2 years, but that is still more than 1 year younger than at Charleroi (24.3 years). Cercle did show slightly more dynamism in the initial phase, but that only translated into a shot by Olaigbe, easily caught by coffee.

Time for two nice statistics. Cercle had not yet lost under Feldhofer and he was already eight matches on the couch, but on the other hand Groen-Zwart had no longer won in Charleroi in 10 years. And that they would not get it as a gift now soon became clear. The caroling players had not yet shown anything until Giaagon immediately proved his value. He went well on a measured pass from Mbenbza and headed in perfectly. It didn’t matter much if it was also 2-0, but the attentive assistant flagged immediately. Well seen from him, because after a long VAR intervention, Mbenza’s goal was rejected for offside. A windfall for Cercle that started to believe in it again and Koné had a lot of trouble wharling the shot of the busy Koné. Not enough for Charleroi to wake up and they could whistle at their lead at the break. Abu Francis was given the freedom to infiltrate, unlike the home defenders, Somers was not sleeping and the Cercle captain aimed the ball back neatly passed Koné: 1-1. The zebras tried to change that, but shortly before the break a header of Heymans just flew over and the shot of Mbenza went in the same direction after bumbling from Utkus. And Egg so Cercle went to rest with a lead and Thibo Somers scored a second time, but he narrowly decided next.

Bayat under fire again

After a balanced first half, the rain kept coming out of the sky in the black country and the home team was not allowed to play towards Spionkop. If the question is whether that is still an advantage nowadays, because the Ultra’s showed their displeasure again a few times and of course Mehdi Bayat was again the target of all the frustrations. In the meantime, Cercle showed the better actions on the heavy and marshy field Via especially Olaigbe and Somers and Hannes van der Bruggen, the pole even hit. On many parts of the field, the ball no longer rolled smoothly through the heavy rain and that put a brake on the game of both teams. Playing back sometimes resulted in dangerous situations, but both Koné and Delanghe were always able to solve it.

Ravych furious and out after elbow of Heymans

The Cercle keeper still had to intervene on an attempt by Dragnes and because there was quite a lot of space for both teams in the switch, Cercle Minda brought in to Olaigbe. Ravych had to leave the field in less pleasant circumstances. He collected an elbow bump from Daan Heymans and could not even continue. He reacted furiously and shouted a few more swearing words to the perpetrator and also tried to get his gram from the fourth ref. Heymans and Charleroi got away well there, but still had to go with ten men after Keita’s second yellow card. The second consecutive time that Cercle was allowed to complete a match with a numerical majority. Last week against Dender with about 80 minutes against 10 men. Then it won, but now it turned out not possible to grab three more points in the remaining fifteen minutes. Cercle remains unbeaten after nine matches among the new trainer Ferdinand Feldhofer.
