In the end the rights holders have decided: the Australian Open final between Sinner and Zverev will be broadcast free-to-air on Nove (Sunday morning at 9.30). Warner Bros. Discovery has dissolved the hesitations in the wake of an increasingly pressing request from the public, now en masse passionate about Tennis, after the action of the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy – to include the final of the Slams with Italians in the field in the list of events of social importance to be broadcast in free-to-air – had become bogged down in the bureaucracy of Brussels.
Warner Bros. Discovery has received positive opinions from the operators who distribute Eurosport for a fee (Sky, Dazn, Tim, Amazon). The official announcement of the free broadcast has also arrived, on Nove, with Sky which in a statement said it was ready to make its TV8 channel available, “to thus guarantee a further expansion of the audience that will be able to enjoy this extraordinary challenge”.
